Presenter: Pastor Gbolo

Why is the word Trinity used in the Bible? Is the word supported in the Bible?

Trinity = Three. Three Gods. Father, Son and Holy Spirit

Word is not found in Bible. Term put together to try to put them together.
Three Gods that make one God, one God three Gods.
Individual and work together as a team.

They work together.

Genesis 1:1 – GODS.
God is singular in KJV, but in original language, it’s Elohim = plural.
Whenever a language is translated/transliterated, it loses some elements.  They try to make things grammatically correct. ”GODS” created the heaven and the earth.

Genesis 1:2 – SPIRIT OF GOD.
God the Spirit moved over the water. He always operates around water, oil, something tangible.
In beginning, Gods came to create. But Spirit of God was first to take action.
Sent to be our comforter. There to listen and calm us.

Important to understand bc there are other religions that don’t believe there can be three Gods in one. Muslims believe that Jesus is comforter and Holy Spirit. They say that Jesus went and came back as Holy Spirit.

Luke 3:21-22
The Trinity shows up here.
Jesus got baptized to fulfill all righteousness in order for other people to be saved.
When He was baptized, He started His public ministry.
As soon as He came up, the Holy Spirit came in the bodily form. This is the first time Spirit showed up in a form of a dove (also found in Jesus). Then, the heavens were open. Then, God the Father was there. All three speak openly.

Luke 12:12
Sometimes you’re confused in terms of what you should do, but Holy Spirit will tell you.
When you believe that the Holy Spirit dwells in you, He will not sit and let you be let down.

John 15:26
Holy Spirit is Comforter and agent of truth. If you go against truth, He can’t do anything for you. If you’re working for the devil, His hands are tied.
Speaking in second person.
The Holy Spirit acts as God Himself.
Roleplay came up. People look at Trinity as there is hierarchy, but that’s not the case. They’re just taking up a role.

JESUS

Micah 5:2
Prophesies that Jesus was going to be a man a long time ago. But in case people think He is just an ordinary man, important to make clear that He existed from everlasting.

Deuteronomy 32:30-31
Jesus is often referred to as the Rock bc during those days, those were considered the oldest things around.

1 Corinthians 10:4
Jesus is the Rock.

In OT, Moses and people complained. God came as a rock. All Moses had to do was speak to the Rock, not touch. But Moses, in his anger struck the Rock. He was hitting Jesus. That was spiritual water. Paul said that the Rock was Christ, and the water was holy water.

Rock was only to be struck once, on cross. Moses was not supposed to strike.

Isaiah 9:6
He was already a king when He was a baby. Usually, when baby, called a prince.
The three Gods are counselors.

Matthew 12:24
Jesus made reference to HS. He said if you do something against HS, He couldn’t do anything about it.

John 1:3
Has power to create. All things are made by HIM!

Jesus didn’t’ have to talk to Father to get permission. Did so because He had to role-play.

Mark 4:24?
Instance where Jesus didn’t get permission from God. Jesus is in boat with disciples. Jesus was operating as man, but operated 100% as God. As a man, He was tired. But as God, He never slumbers or sleeps. As God, He commanded tsunami to die down.

Daniel 10:5-6
Daniel is distressed as to what he saw in vision trying to figure out what will happen to Israel. Then, Christ shows up. Daniel also calls Jesus Michael. Christ also took a role as an angel. When He came to Abraham, Jesus came as an angel. Isaiah 63:8-9 – It was Jesus/angel that came to his rescue. Everytime God’s people went through problem, Christ showed up.
These verses describe how Christ looks like in His glory. We would die just seeing Christ like that. That’s why He had to cover Himself. Analogy: sun – if it came any closer, we would die.

Revelation 1:13-16
Parallels Daniel 10:5. If Christ had come as might God, we would not have been able to see Him bc His countenance is of the sun.
When you have Son, don’t need the sun. Don’t need two lights.
In New Jerusalem, source of light is Christ.

Hebrews 10:5
Jesus could not come as God. He came in a special body.

John 20
After Jesus resurrected, disciples were in the upper room, fearful from the Jews. Doors and windows were shut, but He still entered.

Jesus was not just a man. As a man, He had to obey the Father.
When He was crucified, He said He can call angels bc He is God. He didn’t need to ask Father to call upon the angels.

Colossians 1:13-17
By Him, all things were created, invisible and visible.
Principalities = original Greek = the first to start something, like evil = devil.
Before things came into being, He was already there.

Hebrews 1
Tells us that Christ took a role as an angel.

Three operate as one bc they have one goal.

Every illustration is not perfect. Always flaw associated. That’s why role play is good way to explain Trinity.

Stereotypes of Christians:
-Boring
-Close-minded
-Hypocritical

Hardships of being a Christians
-Trying to show people that you’re trying to change but they don’t believe you
-Turning the other cheek when someone wrongs you

Video: What atheist has to say about Christians
Reactions: feel more sorry for boy than feel offended

Christianity: one who professes belief in teaching of Christ

Why do people have stereotype?

Satan has a counterfeit for everything God made.

Matthew 5:13
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing but to be cast out and trodden under foot of me

Purpose of salt: preserve, clean, seasoning

The “Bland Christian”
Christians, like food is bland. It means it’s not being fortified by anything of God.
When you act salt to the mix, it acts seasoned. Haha. Make mistakes and learn, make mistakes and learn. This salt helps us to to become more like Christ.

Mark 9:50 Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.

“Our Christian lives and our testimonies are compared to salt.”

We can’t season other people if we don’t season ourselves.

Colossians 4:6 Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.
