God... Will you be mine?

Reflecting on the recent holiday, a lot of people believe that they have found true love. Whether it is in their significant others, their animals, or the common inanimate object. The big question:
What is TRUE LOVE????
Christians or otherwise, we know that there is an origin for everything. Nothing just appears out of thin air because it wants to. Right???? So where does love come from? Not just any kind of love though. We're talking about TRUE LOVE.

The Bible gives some examples of relationships that we can learn from: Adam and Eve, Abraham and Sarah, Jacob and Rachel, David and Bathsheba, Solomon and his woman, and the list can go on. But where did all these people get the love.

Three verses are going to show us that True Love can only come from God.

The first:
"1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 Through him all things were made; without him nothing was made that has been made." (John 1:1-3)
The second:

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. (1 John 4:7-11)

Hopefully you see that the Word which was in the beginning came from God and is God. God is Love and we are born of God. So not only is God the origin of love, we, because of Him and through Him can and should love. There are plenty of other texts that reveal God's love for us and His challenge to us to show the same love for our neighbors. Look it up!

So what is True Love. God is True Love. And because He has shared this unconditional love with us, why not share it with someone else. It means more than any teddy bear or flower, and amounts to more than any diamond. It spans generations and lifetimes and cannot simply be contained in any 24 hours celebration.

God loves you and so do I. :-)
